Head of Peace and Equality Cell, Prita Jha, with other notable guest speakers addressed an audience of Dalit rights’ supporters about the importance of human rights and access to justice for all. This event was supported by HRLN (Human Rights Law Network) and the LSE (London School of Economics) on 17-18 January 2020.

The disparity of the caste system has led to many atrocities against the Dalit community and Prita highlighted PEC’s work in this area, in bringing access to justice for survivors and victims in these cases. She also highlighted the stark difference in treatment towards Dalit women and questioned what we, as a society should be doing to improve this and to raise awareness of the double discrimination on caste and gender grounds.
