In the village of Timba, we have managed to provide supplementary food kits to 50 families, a total of 186 people.
Timba village mainly comprises of the Muslim community, of which some have land and are self-sufficient, however the problem is in the most deprived areas where the poorest and most excluded families live. There are also many poverty-stricken people who were daily wage earners and due to the lockdown, now unable to earn a living.
As the activists have a cadre of people who are well-connected, they are able to identify the most needy families. We have prioritised families which comprise of women with no children to support them, widows who have not yet started getting their widows pension as yet and the disabled; including 3 women who suffer from vitamin deficiency blindness.
