We were blessed to meet Manav Sadhna through a quaint story of when Usmanbhai met Virenbhai Joshi (who set up Manav Sadhna) met at Court, both attending different cases, and realising they both had the same primary goal – to develop a safe place for children to thrive, through their work. Virenbhai and his team kindly invited our team on 16 March to the Gandhi Ashram, to understand each others’ work and how our NGOs could both work together in supporting the vulnerable.
Since 1995, Manav Sadhna has been helping to strengthen underprivileged communities in Ahmedabad through programs in Holistic Education, Nutrition, Health and Hygiene, Youth and Women’s Empowerment, Senior Care, Livelihoods and more. Guided by the spirit to Love all, Serve all, Manav Sadhna follows Mahatma Gandhi’s messages of love, non-violence and compassion in our work.
During the lockdown, this came in the form for food kit distribution where our teams have reached some of the most affected communities and given them some rations to support them during these challenging times.
Now that our work in the field is slowly resuming, Manav Sadhna decided that this would be a good time to undertake online training for their activists and volunteers with Prita Jha on the various aspects of the law on POCSO (Prevention Of Child Sexual Offences).
Some of the areas covered in this webinar were:
- Introduction to the POCSO Law
- Offences under the Law
- Changing child’s own perception of their lives
- Not re-victimising children through the legal process
- Within 24hrs, child to be presented to Child Welfare Committee, shelter, medical examination, reporting etc
- CWC (team of 5) – to support any child in need of care and protection
- Problems faced in ” romantic cases”.
We look forward to our ongoing collaborations with Manav Sadhna.
