Field Visit to Mehsana District with PEC’s Team

A field visit was conducted by PEC’s director Prita Jha, State field coordinator Usman bhai, and legal resource person Yasin bhai to Mehsana district on November 9. The purpose of the visit was to meet the field staff, the families of victims and survivors and to assist them in fulfilling their obligations in terms of their cases and legal matters.

Upon arrival, the team met with District field coordinator and visited Police Head Quarters of Mehsana as well as Police Station Based Support Centre. PBSC has been established in Mehsana district since 6 years. Their main aim is to provide short term/long term counseling and guidance to the needy women –victims of domestic violence and family problems, besides other forms of harassment in coordination with the local police and other Government agencies. We discussed different points related to the projects we’re working upon in the organisation.

After these meetings, the team went out to field for meetings with victims, survivors and their families in the rural parts of Mehsana. This personalisation helped us to understand the case in detail. Our face to face presence made the families feel supported. They were able to share the updates of their cases and provide us with feedback on how their case is being handled by their district case worker.
