Our Work
Our team consists of lawyers, activists and researchers and trainers and we have always taken a justice based approach which is child centric. Our approach is always feminist in that we value the experiences of women and their ground realities and strive to bring this to the attention of the policy makers. We have been working since 2005 on issues of legal justice and have been challenging deep seated injustices and structural inequalities that the marginalised sections face.
We are presently working closely with the peace and justice section of HDRC and this has allowed us to amplify our work on justice in the eight districts where HDRC has a strong field presence. Thanks to effective collaborations, we are now taking up cases from about 10 districts of Gujarat and ready and willing to take cases of serious human right violations from any district in Gujarat.

- 1. Legal Support & Access to Justice
We provide:
- Free legal aid to survivors of child sexual abuse
- Subsidised legal representation for survivors of gender-based violence
- Legal support in cases involving custodial violence, caste-based atrocities, and unconstitutional harm
Our focus is survivor-centric — prioritising dignity, confidentiality, and long-term justice.
- 2. Prevention Through Awareness
We believe prevention begins with knowledge.
PEC conducts:
- Child-friendly awareness programs in schools and communities
- Trainings on laws such as POCSO for teachers, parents, and frontline workers
- Community workshops to break stigma and encourage early reporting
By empowering communities, we reduce vulnerability before harm occurs.
- 3. Advocacy & System Strengthening
Beyond individual cases, we work to improve systems.
This includes:
- Supporting government departments and shelters
- Strengthening implementation of child-protection and gender-justice laws
- Advocating for survivor-responsive infrastructure and policies
Our goal is sustainable, structural change — not temporary fixes.
